PRECISION: A CRIME OF PASSION

Fiction

A retired police detective, bored with his new job, asks permission to study the cold case files at his new job. One caught his eye, since he was vaguely familiar with both victims. The timing of the event, as well as some other clues Jay Magruder finds in the pictures of the crime scene make him believe that this is not an open and shut case of murder/suicide. He believes that this is a double murder that was committed by someone other than the two people involved, but he needs help to prove his theory, so he puts an add on social media. The add is answered that afternoon by a strapping young man in his early twenties. He knows every detail of the story. When he tells Jay that he must go back twenty-five years to tell him the whole story, Jay is skeptical because the young man hasn't even been alive that long. However, when the young man reveals his identity in the epilogue, Jay knows how the young man knew every detail of the story of the couple's murder.
